Plaka
The Island capital, cultural and historical centre.
Though the oldest buildings only date back to the mid 1800's, Plaka has
been inhabited since at least classical times. Built on a steep hill at the entrance of the
Milos harbour, it utilized its cliff top position as a natural
fortification. Plaka is the
most characteristic town on the Island, with narrow roads, houses of
Cycladic style, shops, restaurants and bars. Visit the Kastro, the
ruins of a fortress, from
which you have an incredible view of the island and
unforgettable sunsets. |
