Paleohori
beach
Paleohori, meaning ("old town") is a series of three
long sandy beaches. It is unique for its crumbling cliffs and
variety of natural colours. The colours are a result of
minerals, notably iron and sulphur, deposited in the rocks by
geothermal process.
Geothermal activity
continues to this day and can be seen on the western end of the bay
in form of steam vents, hot springs and the only
natural sauna cave in the
world.
