Triovasalos: The commercial centre
of Milos, Triovasalos is one of five villages, together with Plaka,
Tripiti, Plakes, and Pera Triovasalos, that lie adjacent to each
other and form the main population centre on Milos. They and are referred to
collectively as the
"up-villages", by the locals, as they lie away from the seaside at an elevation
of about 150m. Triovasalos offers the visitor a friendly village atmosphere and a central
location. As most of the inhabitants are not dependant on tourism
for an income, it offers the visitor a casual and authentic glimpse at
modern Greek island life, away from the bustle of the tourist centers.
