Where do the pebbles come from?
Metamorphic rocks, exposed in the headland at the end
of the beach, are composed of
mainly of mica, with about 10% quartz
veins. As the rocks are
eroded, the more abundant, but softer, mica breaks down easily to form fine sand while the harder
quartz remains as pebbles.
