The Company
Sea
Kayak Milos and
Petrinela's
Guesthouse
are owned and operated by Rod
Feldtmann and Petrinela Vikeli. They
have three children, Anna and Alexia and Perros,
aged 10, 9 and 5 and live on Milos, year round.
.
Petrinela
comes from a local family and was born and raised on Milos. After
school she moved to Athens and obtained a degree in Tourism
Administration. She worked for a while in the hotel industry in
Athens, before retreating to the quiet life of the islands.
Petrinela manages the family operated
Kafeneio (Coffee-Ouzo bar) and the
Guesthouse business, in-between her motherly tasks. She enjoys
spending time with her extended family, quiet nights at home and the
occasional weekend adventure. After working hard all summer, she
looks forward to a winter break, either to the Alps to play in the white
stuff, or to Australia for an endless summer.
The Guides
Rod
Feldtmann (company founder, owner, operator, coach and guide)
Rod grew up on a farm in Victoria, Australia. After graduating
with a degree in Geology from the University of Wollongong, he worked
for 10 years as an Exploration Geologist in Australia, South America and
finally in Milos. In year 2000, when his contract as a Geologist
came to an end, Rod established Sea Kayak Milos as a means to remain on
Milos, sustain his family and to enjoy the great outdoors. The aim
of the business was, and still is, to provide affordable sea-kayaking
holidays, in a fantastic location, to people of all abilities.
With 12 years experience leading trips on
Milos and to other places in Greece, he is one of the most experienced and
qualified guides in Greece. He regularly travels to the UK to
attend British Canoe Union (BCU) training courses. He holds his
5 star sea kayak proficiency
certificate
and is a (BCU) Level 4 sea kayak coach.

Dave
Watson (Expedition leader, Assistant guide, May, June, October 2013)
Having first visited Sea Kayak Milos as a customer in 2008,
Dave is now a regular member of the guiding/coaching team which
gives him the chance to share his passion for kayaking with others.
In addition to assisting with the day trips Dave also leads the round-the-island expeditions which usually take 5 days. However, his last
circumnavigation in 2012, with wife Sue, took only a day - 63kms and
11 hours later they were back on the beach where they had started! Fast
and furious is good for a change but he prefers taking the time exploring the
coastline, beaches and caves - on every trip there is
something new to investigate and share with the group.
Dave is a
qualified Wilderness Guide accredited by Wild Scotland, holds the
BCU UKCC 5* Sea Kayak Leader award and is working towards becoming a
BCU UKCC Level 3 Coach.
When not paddling on Milos, Dave can be found on the West Coast
of Scotland, either guiding or kayaking with friends. He and Sue live in
Penrith, England, although they both seem to spend a
lot of their time in Greece paddling or following their other passions –
sampling the local cuisine and their latest hobby - cliff jumping!

Hanne Halden
(Assistant Guide, July 2013)
Paddling for 12 years and instructing for 10 years, Hanne
holds the BCU 3 star
and (Danish) EEP level 2 instructor. Most of her guiding experience has
been with groups around the islands
in the southern part of Fyn, Denmark.
She has been paddling and camping in Denmark, Sweden, Wales and Milos of
course.
Besides being a primary school teacher, she has an Academy Profession
Degree of Outdoor Education in Theory and Practice. Hanne utilizes outdoor
activities in her work with children, as well as in different commercial
jobs.
Hanne's passions are: sea kayaking, tree-climbing and running (marathons and
half marathons)
For quite a while, her main interest with sea kayaking has been rolling!
2013 will be Hanne's 5th visit to Milos, her 4th as assistant guide.
Paul
Taylor (Assistant Guide, August 2013)
Paul is from England and works as a Instructor at the Leicester
Outdoor Pursuit Centre. He is a BCU Level 3 Inland Kayak Coach
and BCU Level 3 Open Canoe Coach. Paul is now the Canoe England
'LCO' Local Coaching Organizer for Lincolnshire. Paul has been
involved with paddling for over 13 years.
Paul also coaches Archery, Bellboating, Bushcraft, Climbing,
Fencing, Raft Building, Shooting, Team Building.
When not working as an Outdoor coach, Paul is a Freelance
Photographer. 2013 will be Paul's 5th visit to Milos, his 4th
as assistant guide.
